About Helena
Actor-Singer-Dancer
Born and raised in the San Diego suburbs, Helena caught the acting bug at an early age after attending her first musical of the national tour "Rodger's and Hammerstein's Cinderella" at the San Diego Civic Theater. In the 4th grade, Helena was chosen to attend a special performing arts program in Elementary school where she trained and performed musicals and plays throughout the school year, as well as continuing her outside training in dance and voice. After many roles in community theatre, Helena landed her first professional job, an independent film singing and speaking role in the heartbreaking true love story "Az Emigrans" where she played the Granddaughter of the great Hungarian author, Mari Sandor.
With much earned confidence, Helena branched out to other community and professional companies thus growing from each experience. At 14 years
old, she made her professional theatre debut in San Diego Opera's La Boheme and Turandot at the San Diego Civic Theatre. At 18, Helena has performed in over 40 musicals and continues to learn and develop her craft. Recently, Helena played the vulnerable Audrey in LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS* (NYA Award), the awkward gum-chewing geek Penny Pingleton in HAIRSPRAY, and Cinderella in Rodger's and Hammerstein's Cinderella. (Moonlight Amphitheatre) Her favorite role was quite the stretch as she played the love-struck tomboy mechanic, Natalie, and later transformed into her alter-ego, "Ed" in the hit 'Elvis jukebox musical' ALL SHOOK UP*. (NYA Award for Best Lead Actress, Old Globe Honors Awards) Regional favorites include: June in GYPSY, Gertie in OKLAHOMA!, and Meg Giry in PHANTOM OF THE OPERA.
Helena has been fortunate to work in professional theatres throughout San Diego. Helena just recently traveled to Scotland and London to reprise her award-winning role of Natalie in ALL SHOOK UP at the world's largest theatre festival, the Edinburgh Fringe.
Helena is moving to New York City to study theatre and dance at Pace University this August.
